Thyme S. Siegel, MA, is an instructor of Women's Studies and a writer of numerous autobiographical stories, journal and newspaper articles. Her story "My Mother Was a Lighthouse Keeper" was published in two anthologies. Her story of growing up in backwoods New Jersey, "The Lost Tribe," appeared in the Bridges issue of Jewish Women on Land, January 1996.
The following matriarchal village description is true, but the story which follows comes from a different channel. It is at least as much fiction as autobiography.

SUMMARY. This story of a gypsy-dyke first experiencing polyamory is set in the 1970s in an Oregon college town, where radical feminists considered non-monogamy an important way to strengthen lesbian tribal bonds. Personal struggles with jealousy and community support for rejecting coupleism are captured in this piece.
